CEDRICS® were announced as winner of Champion Pickle & Chutney 2020
The overall winners of this year’s Taste of the West Awards were announced this year online due to the coronavirus. The prestigious ceremony was unable to take place this year however the awards were able to be judged and accolades bestowed on the best of the South West food & drink businesses.
The Taste of the West Awards have been running for over 25 years and the annual programme rewards the very best food and drink from across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. They truly are regarded as a benchmark for excellence across the whole South West region.
Cedric & Dorothy Tuck have been running Cedrics® at The White Swan in Misterton, Nr Crewkerne for 42 years this year.
2020 has been, like everyone, unusual to say the least, but for Cedrics®, now a ray of light has shone through as their Hot Sweet Pickle Relish won Taste of the West Gold with its moreish taste. It is a really versatile product which can be enjoyed with cheese in a sandwich or on top of a burger for that delicious kick of heat with many saying that is so good it can even be eaten straight from the jar! This year they also won Gold for Sparkling Beekeepers Marmalade Cider, Gold for Damson and Port Jam and Silver for Medlar and Cider Jelly.
Their daughter Helena Tuck says” To be announced a finalist for the champion title was just fantastic. Then to our astonishment we won Champion Pickle & Chutney 2020. Amazing! Winning Champion was the boost we needed and the timing couldn’t be better as we have just launched our new website, www.Cedricssomerset.co.uk, in time for Christmas. Hopefully for those who are too far away to use the contactless drive thru they will be able to find the ideal gift from us to mail order to a loved one.”
Cedrics® have now won over 30 Taste of the West Awards in particular their Gold Award winning Somerset Cider and Apple cake, their jams, marmalades, Chutneys and jellies all in the last 9 years since entering their first product in the prestigious competition. Cedrics® now have a product with a gold in each of those categories. Last year’s Gold’s were for Beekeepers Marmalade Cake and Beekeepers Marmalade Cider.
